I first met Mona in one of my “bootcamps.” She was one of the most committed seminar executives and I wasn’t surprised that she passed the BOG on her first attempt attaining an exceptionally high exam score. She has continued to be committed to her profession and demonstrates her absolute passion by attaining the highest level of Fellowship certification in multiple professional organizations as you’ll see above next to her name.
Even before Mona attained her FACHE, she was volunteering her time to help make the Cincinnati Local Program Council a successful organization to help provide educational programs for healthcare executives. Her commitment and skills were recognized by the Board of our SW Ohio Chapter resulting in her being asked to join the Board as a member. We depended on her, and she always delivered outstanding results.

My affiliation with Mona began six years ago as I was transitioning from a production medical coding and educator role into a revenue cycle consulting position at a local healthcare organization in Cincinnati. Mona was the executive director of the departments I was supporting as a revenue cycle consultant. When I embarked on my new role, I had previous technical training and formal education to support me but no hands-on experience in a position that offered me the opportunity to work directly with the client to assess performance and offer solutions. This lack of firsthand experience was an uncomfortable space to be in but with Mona’s guidance I quickly become confident in my ability and was able to forge successful relationships and promote growth within the department we were working.

During my time as an Administrative Fellow, Mona not only ensured I had a seat at the “table”, but she always made sure my voice was heard and that I belonged. As I was seeking post-fellowship job opportunities, Mona was the first person I called for advice and she always took my call - even if it was as early as 7:00am. Specifically, Mona has empowered me to lead health system-wide initiatives, resolve unique challenges as Administrator on Call, and to go above and beyond. In addition to giving insights to mentors and mentees on leadership and career development, Mona mentored me! Although I wanted to obtain my master’s degree, at that time I couldn’t add another responsibility to work and small children. Mona suggested I pursue certifications to acquire knowledge and stay relevant. It shifted my perspective and filled my bucket as a lifelong learner.
